7, 8 and 9 year olds

For today's early work, we are going to continue building our developmental milestone reference chart. Today, however, we will utilize the website called About Parenting.  About parenting has excellent articles about children of particular ages and their development. Refer to this article for 7 year olds.   For 8 year olds, we will reference this article.  For the nine year olds, we will reference this article.

As you read both articles, select three things for each age for each area on your chart.  For example, you need three fine motor skills for eight year olds, and three fine motor skills for nine year olds.  (Hint: you will need to click on the read more about physical development to get all the answers for motor skills.)

****Assignment****   Today's plans include Early work (above), Notes on 8 and 9 year olds, and an assignment.  After notes are done, you have the rest of the time to work on your assignment.  No other class time will be given for this:

  • using the internet, search third and fourth grade time filler activity or similar key words.  Locate 5 activities.  Write a lesson plan for one of your choice. Remember, this assignment will be due at the end of class on Friday.  Focus on age/skill appropriateness.
