Guidance Techniques

We have talked about several guidance techniques.  They are listed below.  Your assignment today is to create a bullet list for each one.  Your bullets should name situations where you can use the guidance technique to help the child.  For example, for modeling you could say - cleaning their room.

Include three bullets for each.  You may work as a group.

Eating through the life span

Create a menu for the following individuals:

  1. Expectant mom - 24 years old, first trimester, 145 pound, 5 foot five inches, less than 30 minutes of physical activity a day.
  2. Male student athlete - 16 years old, 160 pounds, 6 foot 1 inches, more than 60 minutes of physical activity a day.
  3. Senior citizen - 72 years old, male, 160 pounds, 6 foot 1 inches, less than 30 minutes of physical activity a day.

Use the MY Plate Check List Calculator to calculate then number of servings of each food group that these individuals need.  Create a menu plan for each person based on the number of servings needed.

The worksheet will be handed out in class.

Jigsaw Activity for Chapter 10
